Business Chamber Queensland, the State’s largest and most representative business body,  has joined Premier David Crisafulli and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in support of hosting the Quad Leaders Summit in Brisbane in 2026.

Business Chamber Queensland CEO Heidi Cooper said the summit, discussing security and prosperity for the Indo-Pacific region, would be integral in creating economic opportunities for Queensland businesses and to secure Queensland as a global leader ahead of 2032.

“Our fellow Quad countries, the US, Japan and India, are key trading and strategic partners for Australia and Queensland is best placed to host this summit in 2026,” Ms Cooper said.

“We’re just seven years out from the 2032 Olympic and Paralympics Games and a Quad Leaders Summit in Brisbane would demonstrate Queensland’s capability and impact to the world.”

It comes as Ms Cooper returned from a national delegation of Australian chamber leaders in the Unites States in July, attending high-level meetings in, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Los Angeles. It was timed alongside renewed global trade momentum.

As part of the delegation, Ms Cooper, alongside state and national Chamber of Commerce CEOs met with senior government officials, investors, industry groups and international chambers to promote Queensland as a preferred destination for trade, investment and innovation partnerships.

Ms Cooper met with the Hon Dr Kevin Rudd AC, Australia’s Ambassador to the United States, while in Washington to discuss opportunities for Queensland businesses as well as a potential Quad Leaders Summit in Brisbane.

“This summit will position Brisbane as a strategic hub for international diplomacy and business. Hosting world leaders here demonstrates Queensland is open for global engagement and ready to lead in the Indo-Pacific,” Ms Cooper said.
