Lights, cameras and 'action' on sustainability

In today’s fast paced, ever-changing digital landscape, the ability to create engaging video content is essential for many businesses. Doing exactly that is what eMotion Video & Media Training specialises in. Established by award-winning media industry experts Suzie Cray and Kirsty Nancarrow, eMotion Video teaches their clients how to use video as a powerful communication tool through their workshops, one-on-one coaching and onsite personalised training. Suzie and Kirsty work-manage their business from their individual home-based offices.

Suzie adds, “We both agreed that we’d love to find out how we can improve our sustainability – our environmental impact – because the environment as a whole is extremely important to us, and we live by these tenets. We wanted to bring it into the business.” eMotion Video joined the ecoBiz program in 2023 because they were proud of the sustainability initiatives they had already introduced to their business – but wanted to do more.

“ecoBiz made us aware that just when you think you’ve done everything you can, there is something more you can do.”

Suzie continues, “We had our first coaching session in 2023. To be honest, it was just like a friend was going above and beyond to help us do this. But it was just so relaxed, easy and non-judgemental. Our personal coach was there to support us.” The business has already reached 2-Star Partner status and is seeing fantastic results and initiatives thanks to their collaboration with ecoBiz. Suzie says, “ecoBiz made us aware that just when you think you’ve done everything you can, there is something more you can do.”  These results and initiatives include:

  • Decreasing energy consumption by 10% despite increasing productivity. This translates to reducing energy intensity by 58%.
  • Installing solar panels and feeding 407.8 kWhs of electricity back into the grid, earning solar credit.
  • Implementing zero-waste initiatives such as recycling of ink cartridges, rechargeable batteries and minimal catering packaging.
  • Using recycled materials.
  • Adopting paperless office practices.
  • Using Containers for Change to recycle cans and bottles to support the Young Animal Protection Society and Friends of Himalayan Children.
“An indirect benefit is the pride that Kirsty and I have.”

Suzie and Kirsty are passionate about training their clients and just as passionate about improving their sustainability and caring for the environment. For eMotion Video & Media Training, being as sustainable as possible is a matter of pride. Suzie sums it up perfectly, “An indirect benefit is the pride that Kirsty and I have, you know, to strut around like peacocks saying we’re a 2-Star ecoBiz Partner – that’s going on our email signature and newsletter.”
