On Tuesday 22 July, Workforce Evolve delivered an inclusive recruitment masterclass for Logan businesses, with the support of the Logan Chamber of Commerce.
The masterclass began with a panel discussion on the importance of workforce diversity for local businesses and the community. The panel shared a range of perspectives on the benefit of attracting and retaining diverse workforces for business performance, and also to ensure the skills and experience of local talent is utilised as effectively as possible.
Businesses in Logan have to be prepared to compete for staff as major projects come to the area, also vying for skilled local talent. The local community also needs to ensure pathways are available for the next generation to get a start in the workforce and build the skills needed for the future.
The workshop guided the group through inclusive recruitment principles and highlighted opportunities to make simple recruitment changes in order to attract the widest segment of jobseekers possible.
The session built on the panel discussion’s themes of workforce diversity as a necessary component for increasing productivity, attracting and engaging with diverse customers and clients more effectively, and retaining unique skills and experience for long term business success.
The event finished with a networking session allowing local businesses to engage with each other, collaboratively discuss workforce challenges, and highlight local opportunities to continue building sustainable workforce practices.
