Ahead of the 2026-27 State Budget, Business Chamber Queensland made more than 70 recommendations for clear, practical reforms to address current pressures and position Queensland businesses for the future.
Top priorities for businesses ahead of the State Budget are improved productivity and profitability, continued investment in business enabling infrastructure and a reduction in regulatory burden, as well as support to access skilled workforces now and in the future and measures to support participation in supply chain, procurement, infrastructure, AI and global opportunities.
Our extensive business knowledge, built on decades of direct engagement with businesses as well as data and research, provides invaluable insight into Queensland business sentiment, expectations, and conditions.
In preparing our recommendations for our 2026-27 State Budget submission, we conducted a Business Priorities survey of more than 600 entities, employing over 35,000 people, consulted businesses across the state, local chambers of commerce, and our peer industry groups to ensure our recommendations reflect Queensland’s immediate and future business and economic needs.

The biennial Efficient Regulation Report, which surveys hundreds of businesses across the state, reveals the cumulative financial, time and productivity burden of red tape across Queensland’s business community.
Businesses have repeatedly told us that reducing red tape and regulatory burden is one of the leading issues they want governments to prioritise, including in the 2026-27 Queensland State Budget.
