On Wednesday 7 October, Workforce Evolve delivered an effective onboarding masterclass for businesses in the Toowoomba area with the support of Employ Toowoomba.

To open the masterclass, Employ Toowoomba lead a panel discussion on the importance of attracting and retaining diverse talent for local businesses and the community. The panel shared a range of perspectives on the benefit of balancing a structured onboarding process while incorporating flexibility to support new team members to build their confidence and a sense of belonging.

Following the panel discussion, the group were guided through the elements of an effective onboarding process required to encourage long-term retention and support higher productivity and engagement among new hires.

The session built on the panel discussion’s themes of providing practical support for new employees that set them up for success in their new roles. With a range of practical exercises, attendees began identifying their own opportunities to fine-tune their onboarding approaches and implement positive changes in their business.

The event finished with an introduction to the region’s Small Business Assistance Officer and the range of free support available through the service. Attendees rounded out the masterclass with networking, allowing them to connect with one another, the Employ Toowoomba team, Workforce Evolve team and their Small Business Assistance Officer.
