The biennial Efficient Regulation Survey seeks to identify the pivotal red tape and regulatory issues facing Queensland businesses. Since 2009, we’ve conducted this research to understand the impact of inefficient regulation and requirements on Queensland businesses and to track changes to the burden of regulatory compliance.

In 2024, we know regulatory burden remains a critical challenge. Last quarter, the majority of you told us reducing regulatory burden would positively or very positively impact your business, and it should be a high or critical budget priority for the Queensland Government. And in 2023, our data shows the median yearly cost to comply with inefficient regulation doubled to $50,000 per business.

Our Efficient Regulation Survey is a critical opportunity for your insight to inform our 2025 Efficient Regulation Report, which will highlight the impact red tape burden has on businesses and identify valuable opportunities for reform at all levels of government.

The 2025 Federal Election Survey will capture the Queensland business community’s economic priorities for the next Australian Government. Queensland will be critical to the 2025 Federal Election and contributing to this survey will put your needs front and centre of the debate.
