Important updates for exporters to the Middle East

Escalating conflict across the Middle East is causing disruption to transport, shipping and air freight networks in the region and around the world.

Business Chamber Queensland and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) are working with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Austrade to provide exporters with the latest information.

Practical steps for Queensland exporters navigating trade with the Middle East:

  • Stay informed: Keep up to date with the latest information using Austrade’s Go Global Toolkit. For businesses with operations in the region, refer to the DFAT Crisis Hub and Smartraveller website.
  • Check your shipping status: If you have goods in transit or ready to export, contact your customs broker, freight company or shipping agent to confirm impacts, timeframes and any emerging risks. Ensure you also remain in contact with your buyers to manage expectations.
  • Review your shipping arrangements: Continued disruption may have an impact on shipping rates and the availability of shipping containers. Contact your freight company and review your sales contracts and insurance policies to ensure you’re prepared for current and future impacts.

For those relying on imported goods for manufacturing and other industries, contact your suppliers to identify any potential disruptions to your supply chain.
