Business Chamber Queensland is bringing its Ahead of the Game event series to the
Gold Coast next week, as local businesses are urged to get ready for the wave of
opportunity building across the region.
With the Gold Coast continuing to grow as a hub for tourism, major events like the
Olympic and Paralympic Games, infrastructure, film and screen production and
advanced industries, the half-day program is designed to help local businesses build
capability, sharpen their competitive edge, and position for growth.
Business Chamber Queensland CEO Heidi Cooper said the Gold Coast was entering
a period of rapid economic development, but businesses needed to be ready to seize
the unprecedented opportunities ahead.
“There is real opportunity on its way for Gold Coast businesses, and those that build
capability, strengthen partnerships and lift their profiles now will be best placed to
compete and thrive,” Ms Cooper said.
“This is a real chance for Gold Coast businesses to be part of Queensland’s growth
story and Ahead of the Game is about giving businesses all the ideas, inspiration and
practical insights they need to think big and prepare early to seize future
opportunities.”
The half-day program will feature a panel discussion, practical workshops and
networking, covering procurement readiness, workforce planning, branding and
visibility, sustainability, strategic partnerships, export readiness and how businesses
can leverage Australian Made credentials.
Panel speakers include John Warn, Chief Executive Officer of Experience Gold Coast;
Schuyler Weiss, Managing Director of Bazmark; Laura Maxwell, Managing Director
Queensland at News Corp Australia; and Dominique Lamb, Director of Community
Affairs to the President of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
Organising Committee.
Ahead of the Game: Gold Coast will be held on Tuesday 2 June 2026 at JW Marriott
Gold Coast Resort & Spa.
